Why Concept Flooring?
Concept Flooring Technology was originally founded in 2000 by John Hartley, who started off in a disused barn with just a handful of machines and a Luton van. Fast forward 25 years and we now operate from two fully equipped depots, with a fleet of vehicles and over 700 specialist surface preparation machines. John’s daughter Laura now runs the day to day side of the business, keeping the small family-run mentality at the heart of everything we do.
Our workshops are completely self-sufficient, equipped with enclosed wash down bays and down draft benches. Our staff are fully trained, and as the industry and machinery evolves, we ensure that their knowledge does too. Consequently, we don’t need to outsource anything; all servicing, cleaning and maintenance is carried out in-house. The main benefit of this is that we can ensure that we uphold our high quality standards for each and every customer.
We’re proud to be FORS and SafeHire accredited, in recognition of our scrupulous quality, performance and safety standards. Concept Flooring Technology is also a certified HAE (Hire Association Europe) member, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to machine hire excellence.
We offer a delivery and collection service to all Mainland UK sites, and our trained drivers are able to provide on-site demonstrations as required. Additionally, as we don’t use third party transport, we’re able to accommodate next day deliveries and keep our customers up to date with realistic arrival times.

Managing Director
John started Concept Flooring Technology in 2000 with the view of bringing diamond grinding and concrete polishing to the forefront of the British market. With more than 20 years’ experience of the hire industry already behind him, he visited various manufactures across Europe sourcing the best machines for each flooring process. This mantra has stayed with Concept throughout the years, and with more than 600 machines on our fleet, we continue to supply the latest machinery and tooling available.
Hire & Sales Manager
Laura has been working within the sales sector for many years and started with Concept in 2013. Providing our customers with the best quality service is paramount, and she will ensure that they always have the most information possible. Laura is the first point of contact for all our hire customers, following extensive workshop and on-site training, she has a full understanding of suitable machinery to achieve each desired finish in the quickest and most cost effective manner.
Workshop Manager
Kris runs the team in our fully equipped workshop, maintaining and servicing all machinery. He is an integral part of our workforce at Concept, and after more than 10 years with us, continues to improve on our quality standards. His wealth of knowledge about all machinery, site conditions and finished projects is invaluable, and together with Laura, ensures the smooth running of our hire division./
